CORPORATE HISTORY
The Bucks County Housing Development Corporation (BCHDC) was incorporated in October of 1969 as a non-profit 501 (C) (3) corporation in Pennsylvania. At the time the Board Members of the BCHDC were the same Board Members of the Bucks County Housing Authority (BCHA). In 1987, the corporation split away from the BCHA with a new Board of Directors appointed by the Bucks County Commissioners. In February 1988 the BCHDC received its assets from the BCHA. Currently the corporation owns and manages 3 properties, which BCHDC is the General Partner. Our properties are located in Perkasie Borough, New Hope Borough, and Bensalem Township.
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Bucks County Housing Development Corporation to provide affordable housing opportunities throughout the County to lower to moderate income elderly residents and assist these residents in accessing necessary social services support.
GOALS
GOAL I: To develop and effectively manage affordable housing for lower to moderate income elderly residents throughout Bucks County.
GOAL II: To monitor housing trends and activities and cooperate with public and private agencies with similar goals.
GOAL III: To work with other agencies to assist low to moderate income homeowners in Bucks County, maintain and improve their homes and to assist low to moderate income Bucks County renters and homeowners.
GOAL IV: To provide training on a continuing basis to Board Members, staff and residents about low-income ownership, services, changes in existing statutes and new approaches for affordable housing.
GOAL V: To develop and maintain the financial capacity to provide and support affordable housing activities in Bucks County.
STRUCTURE AND GOVERNANCE
Attached is a list of our Board of Directors. We currently have 6 Board Members. These individuals come from a broad background in business, legal, financial and political experience. In addition, many of our board members serve voluntarily on community boards and commissions. Many board members have been on our Board of Directors for over (6) years, giving the board long-term stability.
STAFFING
The corporation has an Executive Director, Finance and Human Resource Director, Leasing Agent, Management Agent, a Maintenance Supervisor, as well as a two Maintenance Technicians.
